Yup, got Monday Madness. Since I've searched all of the dig sites in EG, the only dig site left is Oxford. Lots of coins, iron ores, and PTs. Quite a few candy bars. Only 1 or 2 droplets. That's pretty well hard-coded then. No matter what else is left to dig for, I only get around 1 droplet per 100 digs. Tough world for that next ruby tree. Only 49 to go. Looks like six more weeks. Well, as long as new dunes show up. I guess I'll play once or twice a day if just to collect some more useless rubies. Somehow I just can't let go of those free rubies.

These new sites are very easy to search. I don't really like them. Just about to give up the n the game.

Very easy to search, yet very hard (for me) to look at...in stark comparison to the early sites of the game which were quite extraordinary. It was pretty obvious that a lot of thought, imagination, and considerable artistic talent went into the creation of the Day and Night Realms. Some of those sites were so well-crafted that I actually felt I was physically inside the scenes. The searching was most enjoyable.

But some of these later EG scenes...YIKES...let me out of here!!

You are so correct, Salmo. The creativity of these new sites is lacking. One of the best things about this game was the artwork and it is sadly lacking in the new sites.

I find pretty much all sites fall into 2 categories. Really good, or really bad! I know this seems obvious but let me give you an example, in the night realm, dig sites like elemental or Neo Tokyo are outstanding but then the unicorn site was like a kids game, poorly drawn and simple. I have always seen this pattern on Secrets but think some of the newer scenes are more simple. The crypt scenes are always hit or miss, the Aquarium scene was hard unless you like fish (!) but Ants View Kitchen is very simple. It's nice to have that variety although I still shudder when I get macro plant cell in the crisis passage! The subject of the dune scenes has always been very random, one minute something sensible like Barber shop then something way out there like Burning Man! ( what was that about exactly?) I am looking forward to forthcoming scenes I have heard of from the excellent list of all scenes, so will watch with interest!

I should add that I am quite away behind you guys, Ants View Kitchen is the last scene I have unlocked so am looking forward to eccentric attic which is next!

And just to add a bit...

The perception of art is very subjective...we filter it through a uniquely personal lens. Strolling through a gallery or museum, I might linger for a long time in front of a painting which amazes and inspires me. Another person may look at the same piece for a second, have a chuckle, and move on.

I think what impressed me about the early DR and NR sites was the connection many of the sites had to the Real World. The thread "The Real World and Secret Passages" highlights this.https://forums.pocketgems.com/showth...l=1#post529745 One of the Lewis and Clark scenes, the one with the camp and the giant uprooted tree jutting across the trail, was especially striking to me. Living near the Falls of the Ohio, where Lewis and Clark planned their expedition to the Pacific Northwest, I hike the trails surrounding the historic area. I found a place which looked exactly like the Secret Passages scene, fallen tree and all. I didn't get a picture...the tree has since been cleared...but whenever that scene pops up in my game I think of my personal connection to it. Real world and virtual world become blurred...love it!

Another thing I like about the early sites, PG asked for feedback and suggestions...what the players would like to see. It seems some of those ideas were implemented.

Love your artwork Salmo. The boat sinking is the best.

    Thanks, Cos...

I was going to run with this image, but thought this depiction of Blue in an "itsy bitsy teeny weeny yellow polka-dot bikini"might be a little racy for some forum folk.

However, since hardly anyone is around anymore, what the hey...Lol!

Salmo, the first picture of Blue was cute. The second is much better. And the Little Buddy picture is one of the best ever!

Haven't opened the game in over a month - had got about as far as was possible I think (everything was open and 5 stars everywhere) - about to go on holiday so will almost certainly delete when I get back. Taking up valuable space on the iPad!
