I'm not sure what the 20x picture is, but they don't look like rings. Totems maybe? No idea what they'll be used for though.

But the 10 rubies will be nice, though!

They could be dummies lol I got no idea but the picture of totems look different in quest but that is what I though to so I just put rings?.

But it cost 3 rubies for second battle; then 6 for third; if the progression continues I spend 30 rubies to get 10 plus the unknown reward

Only if you are too impatient to wait the allocated time. I just waited the hour between the first and second battle and it didn't cost me anything.

We have 3 days for the quest, no need to rush it with rubies.

Yes, I just noticed that too. So they are not totems then.....

I finally decided that I probably needed to do the update though I don't want anything to do with linking to Facebook. Backed up my phone and did the update. As soon as the update completed, I got the weekly challenge - first day, complete 18 voyages. Of course, since I first signed on this morning and there wasn't a weekly I went ahead and collected from my ships that were back in port. So now I have to send them out again - keeping back my fighters for the Totem thing.
