I can't be funny today. 'E' will be for Everyone. Everyone in our real lives, and Everyone we 'know' only from this game.

We have a hymn at my church with the following line in it: "Each life that touches ours for good".

(I say that no matter what church/religion you ascribe to, or even if you are religious, or believe in a higher power. The truth is that many people touch our lives for good, and we need to celebrate them.)

We all have friends and families. In real life and in this game. One of my favorite players in the game always uses the phrase "Endless Hugs"
    in her chats.

I love her. She has a great attitude. If I could meet anyone I have known through the game in RL, it would be her.

"Endless hugs." I love that sentiment. Don't be afraid to tell people that you love them, that you value them, that their friendship is important to you. Be the person who offers endless hugs.

Maybe 'E' should be for Endless. I believe love is endless. Love is enduring. Loss is inevitable, but love endures.

'F' is for fish in my pirate alphabet. I do not eat fish often. My hubby's father made his living fishing when hubby was a child. If you catch a 400 pound swordfish and can't sell it, guess what your family eats for days? Hubby hates the smell of fish cooking, and I rarely cook it at home. I do eat fish occasionally when we eat out.

The fish I really like would look great on a ship. Put them on the sails and think how cool they would be.

They would be pretty in any color. Pink, purple, red, green, orange, blue. Pick a color, PG design team, and give us more fish on our ships!

The letter 'G' shall stand for GOALS.

A long time ago, in a Galaxy far, far away, I joined a Guild. It has a number in it's name. I set a goal. My goal was to have a certain number of ships. The Guild shall remain nameless, but I am only one ship away from reaching that Goal! I will get it this coming week.

I also set a Goal to try to get PG to use one of my story lines and give us a ship based on that story line. Success! We now have more than one ship from the stories I have posted. Now my Goal is to get PG to give me some rubies for using my stories. A bit harder, I think, but worth pursuing.

I have set Goals in my personal life. Pilot's license? Check, got it. Losing weight? Check, done it more than once! HaHa! I am good at losing it, not so good at keeping it off.

Seeing my books on the shelf at my public library? Check, did that.

Owning a horse? Check, have done that. Three times.

Learning to ride a motorcycle? Yes, did that, but with a few bumps and bruises and one destroyed bike along the way. Oops, that was not so much fun. It is much better to keep the rubber on the road, and the shiny side up when riding a motorcycle.

Now my Goal is to find more people to join me in Vaders_Fist_2.

I even have a motivational poster for that Goal.

Not only did I write it down, I just posted it here for everyone to see. Help me make my new Goal come true. Join me in Vaders_Fist_2.

As for the ship thing, I have decided that once I pass the magic number, I will just make my new Goal to be more discriminating in ship acquisition. I will only try to acquire purple, sparkly ships. And coin ships. And fleet quest ships. And pretty ships, and ships with fish on them, and blue ships, and green ships and red ships, and................

I even made a new ship just for fun.

Yes, it's Zippy in a Bottle. Kind of poetic, don't you think?

I think you get the picture. I am unstoppable! I am addicted to collecting ships. And I admit my addiction. Isn't the whole point of this game to keep acquiring ships? The nice thing about Goals is that once you reach one, you can set another one. And another one. You don't even have to reach one Goal before setting another one. Just keep working on them one at a time, and there is no telling what a person can accomplish.

Goals, grins, giggles, grog, great things. 'G' is a wonderful letter with so many possibilities.

I just finished my build-a-boat. Hit my goal in ships, and since I am a bit of an over-achiever at times, I purchased two more ships. I am happy to report the goal has been checked off and exceeded.

My pirate alphabet continues with 'H'. 'H' is for HATS.

When I was in a Red Hat Society Group, I wore purple dresses and Red Hats. Except on my birthday. Once a year, on a woman's birthday, we switched the colors and wore red dresses and purple hats.

(these are not my actual hats, but are very similar to hats I do own.)

I have dozens of ball caps. Most of them have logos from shooting clubs from when Hubby and I shot IPSC matches.

I love Halloween hats. I have a collection of witches' hats that I have worn over the years.

And Christmas hats. Santa hats, in various colors. Not all are red and or green. I have leopard print Santa hats. And Elf hats.
At my last real job, I wore a different hat every day for each day we worked in the month of December up to Christmas.

    'I' is for Ingenuity.

Ingenuity is the quality of being inventive, clever, original, resourceful and inventive. Also the ability to apply new ideas to solving problems.

About 35 years ago, some friends of mine were traveling in an old 15 passenger Dodge van. They have 6 kids. 3 boys, 3 girls. They were somewhere in Arizona, on a long, lonely road in the middle of the night. Miles from nowhere. A belt on the van broke. The husband was driving, the wife and most of the kids sleeping. He pulled over to the side of the road. He woke his wife up and asked her if she had any pantyhose packed in her suitcase. She did. They took all the pantyhose she and the oldest daughter had in their suitcases, cut the legs off, doubled them up, knotted them as tightly as they could, and put them on in place of the belt. It wasn't the long drive belt, but a shorter belt. Power Steering maybe. The pantyhose belt lasted several miles and broke. They had made enough of them to replace it again. And a third time. And pantyhose got the van to the next town. They found an auto parts store and parked in the parking lot. All of them went to sleep for a few hours, and when the store opened, they purchased two new belts. One to use immediately and one for later. Pantyhose - an ingenious solution to a problem.

Pirates would have had to be ingenious.

Think about it. You and your pirate crew are sailing around, waiting for a ship to plunder. Common law among pirates was "no prey, no pay". Meaning the crew received no wages but was only paid in shares of the loot they were able to acquire. You can't sail around with your real flag, your 'true colors' showing. If you did, every ship that spotted you would sail away and you would not get close enough to capture them. What did pirates do? They carried several flags and used whichever one seemed the least threatening or most friendly to the ship they planned to capture. Only at the last moment did they run up their real flag. When it was too late for the other ship to sail away. Ingenuity at work.

I'm sure we all know someone who seems to have a knack for solving problems. Someone who thinks outside the box. Someone who shows great 'Ingenuity'. Hail to the people who think outside the box, solve problems and show flashes of genius!

SC's pirate alphabet continues with 'J' for Jog. Jogging is not one of my favorite activities. And I do NOT run. No. Nope. Not gonna do it! I can grumble about walking 1 1/2 miles every day before work. For some reason, my evil twin sister, Evilla, decided that it would be a good idea to jog the 1 1/2 miles. Grrrrrrrrr. She can be so annoying! I walk for 30 seconds, jog for about 2 minutes, walk for 30 seconds, jog some more. I know I can do it, I just don't want to. But a girl's gotta have goals.

I was torn today about what to post. I have always said if I was a smurf, I would be Grouchy. Or Jokey. Depending on what day of the week it is, and maybe even what time of day it is. So, 'J' could have been for Jokes. I will now post a few pictures. I bet you can't look at all of them without smiling at least once. And if you can, you might be Grouchy.

My 'walk/jog' program is going well. This morning I jogged up the steepest part of the trail. (It isn't really steep, but I jogged up it.)

I wanted to do the Rocky dance at the top of the hill, but there was a strong skunk odor, and I did not want to meet the critter face-to-face. I kept jogging.

    But today's letter is 'K'.

Oh, the words that start with 'K'.

Ka, Ki, Kimono, Kiss, Kite, Key, Kitten, King, Knight, Kind, Keel, Kitchen, Kimberlite, Knee, Knit, Kilt. (Oh, give me a well-built, sexy man in a kilt.) Kaleidoscope, Kitchen, Kraken, Kangaroo. Kudzu, Khaki. Kinky.

There is a story in there somewhere. The Kinky Knight was imprisoned in a Kudzu-covered castle with only Kittens and Kangaroos for company. The King found the Keys to the castle, released the Knight, who defeated the Kraken and earned Kudos from everyone in the Kingdom. Wait, that is a story for another thread.

Let's say today's word will be 'Knowledge'.

You didn't see that one coming, did you?

I've learned a lot since I started playing this game. I have talked to people all over the world and learned a bit about their countries. I have looked up words to use in my stories and learned new words to use in my daily conversations. I have learned just how little sleep I can get during guild battles and still manage to function in RL. I have learned that while I once sneered at people who became addicted to computer games, I am now in that club.

Knowledge. The word I have chosen to represent the 11th word in my Pirate Dictionary.

And why am I doing this, you ask.

I see a hand raised, as someone waits to ask that very question.

If I post daily, maybe I can help one person to find a reason to check the forum. If we keep the forum active, maybe we can keep the game active.

Or maybe I can help one person to find a reason to smile every day.

And who knows, maybe after this guild battle is over, Vaders_Fist_2 might pick up a few more members.

    Also:

I really want to find Captain7245. If you read this, Captain7245, please contact me. I want you to join Vaders_Fist_2.

No walking/jogging this morning. More rain. Pouring down when it was time to leave the house. I do NOT walk/jog in the rain.

Today's letter is 'L'. It was an easy decision to pick a word. No other word for 'L' than LOOT!

We are playing pirates, after all!

Loot. Lovely loot. The reason pirates pirated. People are still finding real pirate loot from ships lost in the 1400s to 1600s off the coast of Florida. It is amazing to see what has been found. Gold and silver coins and bars, emeralds, beautiful little gold boxes.

    Pirate loot:

Think Mel fisher and the Atocha.

A few years ago I was at one of the casinos in Oklahoma and I put a $20.00 bill in one of the Mr. Moneybags machines.

I hit spin. Won some money. Hit spin again. Won more money. Hit spin one more time and won: $800.00. Loot. That was a nice haul. And I was playing for $1.00 a spin. If I had been playing for 3x the loot, I would have probably fainted.

    'L' is definitely for Loot!

Wow, my pirate alphabet is up to 'M'. In this case, do not dial 'M' for Murder.

'M' is, or could be, for Merger.

I have seen several teams that I would love to invite to Merge with Vaders_Fist_2. There are 2 teams in particular.

They are teams with 5 or 6 people playing. I have looked on the Member List for the names I saw in guild battles, but the names are not there. Since some people join the forum under different names than the name they fight under, it is impossible to contact them. If I wait until the lockdown is over, I could apply to the teams and simply ask them if they would like to Merge.

I know it would be hard to give up the guild name you have now, but a Merger with us might be a great thing for all of us.

We have some visiting friends right now, but after the battle is over, a Merger could be beneficial for my guild and a few other guilds out there. I would love to have a full guild. And if you only have 5 or 6 members, we could take all of you in.

If you are in a smaller guild, please think about the word Merge. We would love to have you join us. We promise we would treat you well, feed you (virtual) cake, chocolates, beer, bar-g-que and whatever else you want. We would supply you with (virtual) puppies, kittens, guppies, snakes, parrots and whatever other pets you might want.

Merger. A great word to add to the dictionary.

On the good news front, I know where Captain7245 is. I know he is still active. I hope he sees this. If you see this, Captain7245, please join me. Disney and I would be thrilled to have you with us again!

The letter 'N' is for Naughty!

I am about to be Naughty. Since my hubby never reads what I post, and none of you will ever tell him, here is a hubby story.

Hubby went out yesterday and bought an electric saw on a ten-foot extendible pole.

    Why?

Yes, that is a good question.

    Why did he buy it?

Because he does not have enough things to destroy trees with.

And why is it Naughty of me to post about it?

I love the guy. Madly, deeply, forever.

But really, he has this thing about trees. My hubby never met a tree he did not want to destroy. He chops them down with his chainsaw. He uses his tractor and bush hog to mow them. He has a tree puller he can use with the tractor to rip them out by the roots. He has a set of jaws that hook onto the tractor to pull trees up. (Two separate attachments. They accomplish the same thing. Pulling trees out of the ground. One from the back of the tractor, and one from the front.) He will drive up to a tree and put the bucket on the front of the tractor against the lower branch and smash into the branch until it rips the branch off, and proceed to go through the branches he can reach one by one. Then he gets closer to the trunk of the tree and smashes into it until he pushes the tree over.

His dream is to have a skid steer with lots of tree-killing attachments. Sometimes I think he only bought the place we have because it has so many trees for him to destroy.

He can see a tree that he knows I do not want cut, mangled, pulled up or otherwise molested, and he will head right towards it and destroy it. When I ask him "Why?" he replies, "It was in my way."

Since I am trying to be a good person, I can't be mean, nasty, a criminal or anything like that. But I can be a little bit 'Naughty' and tell stories on hubby.

Naughty. It is what you are when you realize you can't grab someone by the throat and kill them because that would be socially unacceptable. Instead, you tell stories about them. To people who will never tell on you.

Naughty. I believe in being good, but hey, Naughty is not bad. It is just Naughty!

Be Naughty with me. Join me in my guild after the current event is over, and we can be Naughty together!

Nothing sets my teeth on edge more than the sound of chainsaws suddenly revving up on a peaceful spring day. I go into panic mode, nervously scanning the street to see who's slashing what. I know trees need to be trimmed and cut at times, especially when the houses might be in danger from the forces of nature. Some areas are prone to some pretty wicked weather.

Me...I live in an area which sees many tornados and severe storms beyond the usual "season" for them. I have a storm cellar, but to access it I would have to run outside and fling open the door...like Dorothy in that movie, lol. And my dog is no Toto by about 70 pounds so that is out. No, I just huddle behind my couch, listen to everything crash around me and think "dang, shoulda had those trees trimmed."

They have all pretty much self-pruned at this point. Everything that could have fallen on the house, has.
"But, time will tell, of stars that fell

Walking/jogging still going well. I torture my fat cells by jogging on the uphill parts of the trail. I can hear those stubborn fat cells screaming "noooooooooo" every time I hit the trail.

In my pirate alphabet, I am up to the letter 'O'.

There is only one word for 'O' that fits me to a 'T'.

    Opinion.

I am very opinionated. I am not shy about sharing my opinion.

I can listen to a cogent argument or passionate statement from anyone, but I have opinions. If you want to change my opinion,
you had better have all your ducks in a row.

Gratuitous picture of ducks in a row. I love rubber duckies. What can I say?

    Back to the word opinion.

If you have a great argument and can back it up with facts, you have a chance of changing my opinion. If you just parrot what you 'think you know', or what you claim 'they say', without knowing why and who 'they' are, forget it! If you spout 'common knowledge' gibberish without facts to back it up, forget it!

When I call our local call-in radio show to give my opinion, I look up references and have the facts and figures at my fingertips.

I once called and said I want fleet vehicles to use CNG. Compressed Natural Gas. We have four producing natural gas wells in my neighborhood, and I own the mineral rights to my acres. I get checks from the gas companies when they sell the gas. I want busses, taxis, big rigs, police cars, etc. to run on CNG.

A caller called in right after me to say there is no way any police department would use CNG because it would turn their cars into 'rolling death bombs'.

Callers only have 3 minutes to express their opinion, and I had to call back the next day to tell him why I was right and he was wrong. I cited about 25 police departments across the country which already use CNG in their cars. Including the Conway, Arkansas police department. I've seen their cars with my own eyes. The original MythBusters did an episode about using CNG in cars and proved just how difficult it is to cause them to explode.

Sidebar: The word 'original' is another great word that starts with 'O'. In my opinion,

I would not have been around on an actual pirate ship for very long. Unless I was the captain. If I had been a crew member on a real pirate ship, the captain would have grown tired of me expressing my opinion and tossed me overboard.

Join me in Vaders_Fist_2 and you can bombard me with your opinion.

The letter for today is 'P'. I have a great word.

    Persnickety.

It is one of those words that just trips off the tongue. Persnickety. Say it slowly. Per - snick - et - y.

If you say it with a bit of a sneering tone of voice it sounds like a swear word.

I looked up the definition on Ask.com.

    Name: IMG_7056[1].jpg

Size: 20.4 KB

The second picture gives a clue as to why I love the word.

"Persnickety people like things neat and tidy, but the etymology of persnickety doesn't provide the kind of clean, clear explanation that appeals to the fastidious."

    Etymology? Huh? What?

    Name: IMG_7058[1].jpg

And then you have to look up the word fastidious.

A fastidious person can be described as Persnickety. But a truly fastidious person refuses to believe they are Persnickety.

That is what is know as a conundrum. Which is: a riddle, the answer to which involves a pun or play on words. Anything that puzzles.

And I keep thinking that there is a story in the word 'Persnickety'. A Persnickety Pirate. Wait, not just 'a' Persnickety Pirate. I've got it!

    'Pete, the Persnickety Pirate!'

I shall have to write it up and find someone to illustrate it and publish it on KDP on Amazon as a children's book!

If anyone is wondering if I walked/jogged today, the answer is yes. And I found some 'cotton' from a Cotton Wood Tree along the path. This is my chubby hand holding the 'cotton' from the tree.

If you look very carefully at my wrist in the first picture, you can see the scar from my Carpal Tunnel surgery. I had it done in the early 80s. I had the left one done first, and then the right one. At one point I went to the grocery store and had the fresh scar on the left wrist, and a bandage on the right wrist. When I caught the clerk staring at my wrists, I told her I had tried to commit suicide. Twice. And I told her to make sure if she ever tried to slit her wrists, to do a better job than I did.

The clerk was horrified! And I walked out of the store LMAO!!!!!!!!! Sometimes I am very naughty. Hey, you have to find a laugh where you can.

Today's letter in my pirate alphabet is 'Q'.

I did a whole story on the letter 'Q' which I posted on the Player Ideas for Ships and Story Lines thread.

"The Queen fell in the Quagmire" and all that.

And, as an aside, who bought the Rainbow Butterfly Ship today? I did, I did! Since I have been posting about butterfly ships on the Player Idea thread, I had to buy it. Thanks, PG!

Back to 'Q'. There are two great words that fit my alphabet today. I was not in a Quandary at all when it came to choosing for today.

If I were a real pirate, living on a real pirate ship, I would be Quarrelsome or Querulous.

Quarrelsome: inclined to quarrel, argumentative, contentious.

    Querulous: full of complaints, peevish.

Yes, me, SC. Little miss sunshine. The team cheerleader. The one you all think is nice, if a bit naughty.

    I can see it now:

The Captain says, "We are going raiding."

Me, in a Querulous (peevish) tone of voice, "Again! We just went raiding last week. I want to go buy cupcakes!"

The Captain, "We need a new Lug sail. SC, get to work sewing it!"

Me, "No! I sewed the last sail! My fingers are bloody stubs! Can't so-and-so do it?!?"

The Captain, rolling his/her eyes, "SC, get to work or I'll dump ye overboard!"

Me, "I'm going below to take a nap. You can't make me do it!"

This could go on and on.

If the Captain said we were sailing to the Caribbean, I would say it is too hot there. If he said we were sailing to Nova Scotia, I would say it is too cold there.

If she wanted to sail off the coast of Ireland, I would complain that the Vikings were there first, and I did not want to have to fight them.

The only way I would have been able to make it on a pirate ship would have been if I was the Captain. Then I could be as demanding and grouchy as I wanted to be, and none of the crew would have dared to call me Quarrelsome or Querulous!

If I was the Captain, I would demand Cupcakes and red hats, and purple outfits, and plush pillows for my cabin, and chocolates and anything else I wanted! My ship would be staffed with tall, dark-haired blue-eyed handsome men wearing kilts! Oh, the possibilities!

Join me in Vaders_Fist_2 and you can decide for yourself if I am Quarrelsome or Querulous! And we will have fun!

The 18th letter of my Pirate Alphabet is the letter 'R'.

This is a letter we can have fun with. Think pirate jokes where the punch line is "Arrr!" Think about how many times I use Arrrghhhh! when I want to curse but am trying to be nice.

Did you know there is even a word for people who cannot correctly pronounce the letter 'R'? Yes, it is Rhotacism. A speech impediment which leaves one with the inability or difficulty in pronouncing the sound of the letter 'R'. I have known a few children who have had the problem. Words such as "drink" were difficult for them to pronounce. The word came out as "dwink". "Dream", "drum" and "draw" are nightmares for people who suffer from Rhotacism.

But that is not my word for today. Just an interesting tidbit of trivia I know.

'R' could stand for Regrets. Do I have Regrets? Yes. Don't we all? Think of Frank Sinatra singing "Regrets I've had a few" in the song "My Way". As I have already stated, I am stubborn and opinionated and I tend to do things MY WAY! I am not so RIGID as to say "It is my way or the highway" but I am stubborn.

And let's not make jokes about things which could be rigid. I am trying not to be naughty. Snicker snicker!

    Today's word is 'Recruitment'.

Which is the reason I started this thread.

Vaders_Fist_2 needs a few more players. Actually, more than just a few. We are at 14. When Disney and I started this new guild, we were at 4. We can take in single players, a small guild, two smaller guilds. We are open to recruiting YOU!

It has been an adventure. I hope the adventure, the fun, the friendships I've made, the stories we share, continue. Wouldn't you like to be part of the fun and adventure? Join me in Vaders-Fist_2.

And one regret I will confess to: I never got Captain7245's email address when I was in the 501st with him. If I had I could email him and ask him to join me. I am still hesitant to apply to the guild he is in now and beg him to join me. I know where he is, but don't know if I should just apply, hope they accept me, leave a message in chat begging him to join me, and then drop out before they can kick me out. It seems an easy step to take, but who knows, he might he happy with them. And I do not want to make waves. I do not want a whole guild mad at me for joining just to try to steal a player from them.

If you are a small guild, and looking to move up, join Vaders_Fist_2. We can help one another.

And I will supply you with virtual cupcakes.

Taking a quick break from the Pirate Alphabet.

A 31 year old make-up artist, Mimi Choi, from Vancouver, Canada, creates amazing, eye-catching and unforgettable (but disturbing) make-up effects.

No one commented on my snake make-up picture above, so I will get back to my alphabet.

    Today's letter is 'S'.

'S' has to be for Ship. Or Ships.

I am thirteen ships past my original goal. I plan to add the Tent Ship to my collection this weekend.

And I plan to keep adding ships to my game. And suggesting ideas for ships and story lines to PG.

And I am working on a children's book about a pirate named 'Persnickety Pete'. His ship is going to be a magical ship. A ship made of dreams and fairy dust and all things that occur in the best of a child's dreams. Or at least, in my fertile imagination. I can imagine a lot of things. That is why I keep posting on the forum.

'S' is for ships. When I lived in Connecticut the Parade of Tall Ships was sailing on Long Island Sound. My husband and I flew over them. It was awesome seeing those majestic ships sailing below us. And now, 40 years later, I am collecting pixelated ships and playing pretend pirate.

    Life is grand!

Vaders_Fist_2 will be open to new members as soon as this event is over. Join me and we can talk ships. Or flying. Or baking, books, butterflies or anything else under the sun. Or, you could just join me and ignore my rambling conversations. I'm easy to get along with.

I will give you a ship for your S, this is SS Sørlandet The Ship is the world’s oldest working full-rigged ship, and is a part of the tall ship race. It used to be a military training ship and my dad was taking his education on the ship. It is now a school ship and you could join it for shorter periods.
