    Do we care?

I tend to agree with you.
I have been thinking about this quite a bit and it leads me to ask a question to the few of us that remain:-
    DO WE CARE!
    Split that into three parts.

Do we care about the future of PG?
My answer:- Not a jot. If they sink or swim it affects me little.

Do we care about the future of SP?
My answer:- only if affects people being able to finish what they want achieve.

Do we care about any proposed new game?
My answer:- not in the least. PG has not made any other game that appeal to me so I have no expectation that any new one would be different.

Well, you obviously must care seen as how you post on here everyday. If you didn't care, why wouldn't you just move your off-topic chats to a non-PG server? Something, somewhere must make you care about posting here everyday, even after anouncing your twice-over retirement from posting.

I'm not trying to pick a fight with you or anyone else on here. I'm simply stating a pretty obvious fact which most people (those who have disappeared and not returned) seem to grasp as well as those like Fyrmnkee and myself who can only interpret the signs (those put out, or the lack thereof) by PG as meaning one thing.

Let's face it, in the past PG has always "teased" their game development. Now, dead silence . . . for two years and working on three. For the crowd that says, "their keeping their cards close to their vest and not divulging anything in a competitive field" I say CACA DEL TORO! How could they possibly do that while each of their current games (current revenue streams) has been left to rot, with no updates and now (pending what happens on 8/1) with over half of them completely shutting down because they don't support the new IOS. That's akin to Nero fiddling while Rome burns. To put it into perspective, that's like Coca Cola saying (two years ago) that they are working on a new soda and to do so they are slowing (and now stopping) production on all current soft drinks. Why? They've done the hard work. They've captured the market share on the current drinks. They have customers drinking soda until it's coming out of their ears, BUT they're gonna blow that all up for something different. Again, CACA DEL TORO! It makes no sense in any business arena. They must have spent millions attracting customers to games like SP, TPC, WD, AV, etc. and they are just letting them walk. Again, no teasing of new games to try and make them stay/switch, no communication or interaction of PG staff on the games or forums, no updates for old games to "string" current players/customers along until the "new games" roll out, nothing.

It's self-defeating. I'd be equally critical of a drug dealer standing on the corner dealing drugs with a sandwich board hanging from his shoulders that reads, "Don't buy my drugs, they'll kill you." It defeats his marketing efforts. It's suspicious. It makes customers (players) wonder what message the drug dealer is actually sending. In fact, it would give some customers pause, thinking that maybe the drug dealer is a cop or just a bit off his kilter. Enough that those customers would interpret those signs and walk a few more blocks to the next drug dealer where normalcy exists. PG, metaphorically, is dealing drugs with its current games. Even if they're working on a new drug, better than the old/current ones, why would you halt the flow of the current drugs, risking customer loss and irrelevancy, just to work on the new drug?

Let me give you another example, the casino. Casinos are in business (like every other business), to take your money. They pull every kind of trick or gimmic to keep you IN THE CASINO GAMBLING. They have no clocks, so you don't easily see the time that you're wasting. They pump in cold, fresh air to keep you awake and at attention. They validate parking, offer free/discounted food and drinks, give you freebies, etc. Everything possible to keep you playing the games and spending money. They don't tell you that their games are not going to be updated any longer and eventually will stop working. They don't tell you two years ago that new games are under development and keep you waiting. They understand that they need to keep your attention. That's what they're selling - ATTENTION. They know that when a player's attention is lost, so is the player. I don't see these tactics being employed by PG. Especially, in a gaming environment like this is.

So, were back to square one where we have the crowd that says - "Do we care?" Uhh, yeah, I care. Umm, the hundreds and thousands of past forumers who posted on here everyday cared, but have been turned away. This was never about the game. Games come and go. This was always about the community and the comradery, the brotherhood, if you will, of the forum and the game. The "familiness" sense of all of us and PG and the unwritten expectation that PG as a business would continue being a going-concern, whether that meant us playing SP forever or many of us migrating onto newer PG games. Yes, I care. Yes, we did care! I just find it amazing that in a world where nothing is guaranteed to no one, that creating that magic, having that business environment where people came together, united, regardless of faith, creed, race, shape, size, color, skill, you name it and killing it, for the sake of killing it, sits easy for PG. It's hard to create that magic. It's hard to understand how it happened. Many try to create that and fail. It's like trying to catch lightening in a bottle. It's equally unbelievably hard to understand why they would throw that away.

Maybe you're right. Maybe I should be like you and the rest of the world . . . maybe I shouldn't care?

SE... your "fake retirement" is making the news again...lol. I guess when you started the "Today I Took a Momentous Decision" thread, almost a year ago to date, and intimated that you were "not gone yet but heading that way" it might have been confusing to some. What you actually said was "To cut down my time playing...To spend less time both reading and writing drivel here"...pretty much what you've been doing.

    Sal.
It is amazing how people read what they want to read rather than what is written. I think, in fact I am sure, I have mentioned this before.
I asked my 'Do We Care?' Question of the few who are left and I gave MY ANSWER. I think what I am trying to say is that people have gone and have many reasons for going but surely a question such as my 'Who Cares' can only be answered by the ones who are left unless we assume that everyone who have gone went because they 'cared'. How silly is that!!!!
Writing this caused me to re-read UD in my sig and leaves me to question my own words, rather the very last words of my sig. 'I am still having fun' I took the words out gave them a shaking and a good airing and looked them rightside, upside down and back to front. Conclusion - Yes I am. Not with SP or PG but I still enjoy the occasional foray into forum and I ENJOY life. Am I bitter because a game has come to an end? NO I am not. I am just thankful for the friends I have made and the enjoyment the game has given me.

edit. I just read the words of an earlier post and I am confused. Firstly there seemed some criticism of off topic chat then there was this band of brothers and reference to the community. I was always under the mis-aprehensión or even aprehensión that the chat caused the community to be so strong. End of todays drivel.

Sorry IncElk0612, I was so busy last Tuesday I forgot to post the EG dune and was away from wi fi again until today. It's nice to know that someone is paying attention to my ongoing list though. We have three more Tuesday's left in July and maybe only three more EG dunes if August 1st is indeed the end of new content for SP.

    Hey everyone,

It seems there's a bit of question in regards to the recent news of iOS 11 and PG as a whole. I think it's first important to note that even though we work in the industry of building games for iOS and Android, there can be times where these things can be a bit of a surprise to us to. It was while watching WWDC that we discovered iOS 11 will be deprecating 32-bit games. With this in mind we had to change up our original plan which hadn't taken into consideration that deprecation of 32-bit would come so soon after the push for 64-bit (I believe that was 2 years ago). A lot of issues can occur when updating to 64-bit (ex: trillion coin issue in TPC and the billion diamond issue in CL), and it takes a lot of time and testing in order to complete. With this in mind we weren't able to get this done for many of our other titles.

Now in regards to future titles and the state of those games. From what I recall in the time I've spent here we've never really given out much teasers or information as to the games we were making. We generally like to hold off on announcements until the game is complete and ready to be put in the App Store. With development there will often be times where our intended time
for releasing a game can often be pushed further out. It's not an ideal situation of course, but it's a necessary evil in order to make sure we are doing our best to create a game we feel will be great. All I cans ay is that we're working on other titles but outside of that there's little I can actually say about what it is. I know it's not the best answer since it's kind of, "trust me, we're doing thing," but it's all I can offer as far as information into it goes.

As for the 08/01/17 date, I believe that was the day where we start moving games through different phases (as detailed in one of my other stickied posts).

I hope this was able to shed a bit of light on the current situation.

    Jesse

    Great.
So to go back to the very first post in this thread, when are the daily quests coming back?
If the answer is never (which let's face it, we already know it is), then why should anyone care about future PG games when PG don't even care about the flaws in this game?

I can't quite guarantee that we'll be seeing them coming back. We've tried taking a look at it and currently we don't have a plan for a fix for it. We could possibly revisit it sometime but it doesn't seem there will be a definitive fix for the daily quests as we had initially hoped there would be. This may change in the future but currently we don't have any fixes readily planned for the issue with daily quests. We had tried looking into what might be causing it previously and at this point we're still unable to identify what's causing it to occur. I understand isn't the best answer, nor is it the one everyone was hoping for. I hope this does not impact everyone's perceptions of our future games negatively. We have done our best to include as much content in Secret Passages (in the Epoch Grove) as we could before making the tough decision to have no new content created. There's still lots of story and content that should be available through the Epoch Grove still.

Hi Cyber gamer, I always check your list regularly as I am still collecting the scenes in my big scrap book! Sad I know and I have mentioned it before but as my sons and I play regularly, we wanted to keep a record of as many scenes as possible to remember the game long after it's gone and your list is a valuable reference! I still have a long way to go in the Lillypad scenes but at least I know what's left to get! Keep up the great work!

Gotta, do you ever read what you write?
I still visit Forum on occasion, and have come to expect your lengthy rants and prognostications.
Firstly, to be plain spoken, you come across about as arrogant as one can.
In my view, you talk down to us as if we're a bunch of dumbos. Often your tone is rude & offensive.
I for one truly don't care that "I heard it here first" - and from you. What are you after, an award? Give it up!

This is a game. It provided hours of enjoyment for many of us for a long time. The Forum was the "secret sauce". Credit for that goes to all the marvelous Forum participants. Including you. You were a cheerleader, coach, and had loads of insight that you willingly shared. Many, including myself, benefited from you in-depth knowledge & analysis of the game.

But since the announcement, it seems like you're on a tirade. You don't have to be the first to tell us "everything". I/we have a brain, and can read tea leaves also. I don't have a need or desire to shout my opinions & views from the mountaintops. But, you go beyond that. You seem to need to convince everyone that a) you know it all; b) you knew it first; and c) we must all acknowledge and agree with your wisdom.

I hope you can chill out; let it go. This is just a game. Be well. Go enjoy life.

Hi Cyber! I check the list weekly. Thank you! I'm always one week behind you on the sites, for some reason. I play twice daily, just enough to keep my hand in. Finally got my 51st ruby tree cooking.

I'm glad the list I am carrying on from jumajuma is helpful to you and anybody else who got behind on the EG sites and dunes. After Jesse wrote the other day that there was still lots of EG content to come I thought maybe the dunes won't stop on August 1st and I still might be listing them at Christmas.

Salmo will take over the list, I am sure, if I ever get tired of doing it. LOL!

I should probably clear up that I had meant we tried to put in a ton of EG stuff in the game to last even after new content was no longer being added. So it's kind of like we heavily front loaded a bunch of content into the EG that should still be available to discover. Apologies for any misunderstandings my wording might have caused!

does the fact that the loss of the dailies happened exactly the same on exactly the same date last year give you something to work from?????

Villa hi. Lovely to see you in print again. Hurrah for your common-sense, long may you continue.

    Sal. Never say never.

CB. Your list is a great addition, long may you continue. It has to be up there with the best that The Prof contributed. From me there can be no higher praise.

Jesse, to follow up on what SE said concerning the daily quest...and as long as we are in clarification mode...

About the daily quests returning...which, from the tone of your post #136, is doubtful. Are you referring to both Quest scenarios that went kaput... the multi-part challenges that went away earlier, and most recently, the daily Kingston quest which awarded wrenches and which disappeared precisely the same date last year(June 1)and was fixed within a week.
