Looking Back: The Best and the Worst

I wasn't sure if it's too early or if it's the right time to reflect back on all these years of SP, namely the best and worst parts of the game. Two examples instantly pop in my mind. Best is the weekly events (maybe BB topping them off?) and the worst is the oversized building we saw way back known as the Secret Manor.

Where can I find all SP music?

Best: this forum It helped make this the longest I've played a game consecutively.

I really like the look and the sound of the game (the graphics and individualised music) with the flip side of that being how long it takes to download each time one leaves the page whether voluntarily or crashing out. The development of the game beyond mere scene searching - gem crafting, ruby trees, shovel smith, etc, perhaps culminating in the worldwide events, also distinguish it and made it addictive to many. The worst, as far as I am concerned, is having created this wonderful mystical world of escape, amputating it and leaving it to fester and die....

One of the best parts of the game is the artwork. I have loved traveling all over the world and seeing things that I might now see in real life. Also, getting to know all the wonderful people on this forum. I have truly enjoyed that in every way. Not having those last few buildings opened in E.G. Is one of the worst things. When I finish this game it will have been my longest played game and one of the best forums I have been a part of. I have enjoyed meeting lots of fun people from all different places.
    Level 117 just in time.

    Okay, I'll play along.

Here are my Top-10 worst things that happened (didn't happen) in SP:

    10) PG stopping the Dig-only and Crypt-only World Events and coupling them with the Casino Events (ended roughly November 2015).

    9) PG removing Super Fruits and 100-rubies prizes from all dig sites (ended roughly early Fall of 2013).

8a) PG Brian leaving. 8b) PG Ray leaving.

    7) The World Event server (lag/updates/leaderboard errors/you name it), which ran about as smoothly as those old Radio Shack computers. (Maybe it was one?)

    6) Any one of the myriad mistakes such as Layer 1, Backround, Background, etc. (Some loved them, some hated them. It boils down to, if I wanted hazzards that penalized me in a game, I'd still be hitting golf balls out of bunkers, streams, gorse and heather.)

    5) Quartz ('Nuff said)

    4) The Double Drop (construction materials) promotions that would leave you with 1 more needed, but the programming wouldn't let you find just one more UNTIL the promotion ended. (Great promotion, but set up by a PG programmer who flunked math.)

    3) Seeker's Manor (uhh, refund please, I'm still waiting. I literally spent about 80K rubies on this brilliant idea, although most rubies went towards upgrading Howling Crypt sites, so I can't complain to much. I think I still have the cat and some of the accessories floating around somwhere.)

    2) Those long-azz waits to open (lift the fog and upgrade) the latter regions in DR & NR. (Tick, tick, tick, tick. At least for some of them the Tinker was invented and I could craft jewels.)

    1) The PG genius who came up with City of Secrets, or as I like to call it, Sh_tty of Needless, INSTEAD of following NR with another realm in the mold of DR and NR (or even better, a realm that relied strictly on rubies as currency).

I'll try to do a Top-10 best things that happened in SP, later on.

    A few of the best:
    - The Forum. The way newcomers are welcome, the kindness, the cheering for all the competitors.
    - The artwork, the beauty of a lot of scenes in the game. The multiple different ways you can choose to advance and enjoy the game.
    - The passion and enthusiasm that a lot of players have for the game and the way and length they would go to help and share information about the game.

    A few of the worst:
    - The idea that non forumer players deserve less than forumer ones. We ALL deserve kindness and consideration.
    - The errors and bugs that would repeat themselves over and over. Even after they were supposed to have been fixed.
    - The way the passion for the game and friends would overpower kindness and politeness just to make their point on a subject.
Here I must say that I learn with a certain player (that I will not name but admire very much) how you can convey your idea with wisdom and objectivity without loosing your temper, no matter how opposite your idea is. And yes I know in every "dysfunctional" (or not) family there are heated arguments but it doesn't mean we can't learn and improve. The truth is when you shout your point of view in someone's face they will only hear the shout and not the message.

Speaking of the sound of the game, where can I get hold of the music pieces on SP? I think any one of those tunes would make for some great ringtones.

Wilsooon said this when someone asked about the soundtrack of another PG game...the same might apply to SP.

I keep reading Claires wonderful post at #7 and the last line keeps popping out at me, I have just had to comment. I have noticed that people who shout their point of view, if asked, tend to think they are answering a shout with a shout even if the other person is in fact whispering.

    best
the way we have come together to enjoy what was the best of games.
the fun we have had along the way.
    the friends made.

    worse
the way a lot of people have been frightened off by the doom and gloom merchants.
I have noticed through the years that whenever the forum temperature drops then people stop posting by the droves.
I wonder if thats why it is done? Is it some subversive way of getting rid of us?

I have lots more best bits that I intend to keep adding.
The worse are not worth writing. It follows on from the 'if you cannot say something nice then keep quite' rule I was taught at school.

Usual Disclaimer shortened to UD means in my opinion, limited to my game, my style of play, in my experience, only speaking for myself, I am only giving my own opinion of my game play I would also cordially like to remind you that everyone not only plays differently but everyone had different games so what is right/works for one may not for another. It is NOT a one size fits all. I am still having fun.
