Eclipsomania around here...tomorrow is the big day. I'm just outside the path of totality, but 90/95%, not too shabby. I think I will wander down to the Falls to experience the Event, take my rock and see what happens. https://forums.pocketgems.com/showth...l=1#post588126

    Be safe everyone...best wishes.

Salmo, Enjoy watching the eclipse. We are about the same 90-95% as you. We will be watching. And if your portal opens and off you go, been nice knowing you. Best of luck in the new world. But a real secret passage sounds fascinating. Who knows who you will run into.

I googled, it is 4% here without cloud, fat chance, it's a lousy summer! Hope something spectacular happens for you Sal. The next big thing here is in 2090, will start swigging elixir of life instead of wine and maybe I'll catch up with you in the future, have fun in the new world!

Oh, I bet Patsy and Eddy are already there, the welcoming committee on another planet!

It is NOT a one size fits all. I am still having fun.

Gosh, I hope I'm not setting myself up to be "scorned" if I post after today..."SALMO! YOU SAID YOU WERE GOING THROUGH THE PORTAL WHY ARE YOU STILL HERE!!!"...lol.

Actually, the article suggests that the opening of the portal is a more of a connecting device, something that connects Earth to higher planes, and less a "door" through which one travels, leaving the planet. But who knows...when I stop and truly think about everything, I can hardly believe I'm even "here". I do expect to be transformed though, in some way, by this solar event because I have that mindset and the timing is right for me.

Oops...I better stop blabbing or I will miss the whole thing.

Bonnie Tyler("Total Eclipse of the Heart") is milking it for all it's worth though...lol.

I had a good experience...I think it was the setting, the Falls, which has always been a spiritual place for me...plus the mindset I went with.

Mentioning Bonnie Tyler's "Total Eclipse of the Heart" made me remember that hilarious (at least it was to me )parody of the song using the music video (literally ) Check it out on Utube by searching for the literal version of Total Eclipse of the Heart if your interested.

Watched the eclipse here in Toronto and it was nothing to write home about. I don't know what I expected however it was disappointing.

We were at the Canadian National Exhibition (equivilant to a State Fair in the US) and the longest line up was for eclipse glasses. Had fun watching the grandchildren enjoy the rides. My grandson who just turned seven graduated from the kids rides to the big rides in the midway. He was over the moon and we heard so many times about the ride were he went upside down. Not for me, I found a seat under a tree in the shade as it was close to forty degrees with the humidity.

There is something about the smell of carnival food and the noise of the rides and the barkers trying to get you to spend your money. Long line ups for the deep fried Mars bars.

My daughter is lucky enough to attend University in the path of Totality. Her pictures were amazing. It was like the end of sunset except the sunset colors were surrounding you. If you can search the Clemson University Instagram account for their pictures.

And, it really did get dark at Totality.

Bell, Book and Candle is one of my favorite movie oldies. Set in Greenwich Village, the movie is a lighthearted portrayal of modern-day witchcraft. Kim Novak stars as Gillian Holroyd, a witch who often uses her "familiar", a Siamese cat named Pyewacket, to help cast her spells.

A bit of movie trivia. Pippy auditioned for the part of Pyewacket, but the Pirate accent didn't work, so they went with the Siamese instead.

I just saw this. When I was in high school, long ago in another lifetime, I rushed home from school every day and watched Dark Shadows. It is awesome that you posted this!

Dark Shadows episodes which revolved around the concept of parallel time were my favorites. Works which explore this subject are interesting to me.

Most will remember Christopher Reeve as Superman. But he also starred in a time-travel, parallel-time movie titled Somewhere in Time. Not the "hop in the time machine and whoohoo away we go!" type of time travel...but something more psychological in nature. I will admit the movie is a little sentimental, and it has a cult-like following, but I enjoyed it. I bought the movie, loaned it out, it was never returned...bought it again, loaned it out...again, never returned. The last "never returned" is a little poignant.

Often, work-related relationships can develop into special friendships. Kenny was a great guy. Charming, always positive, and never shy about jumping into whatever conversation was floating about. He didn't mind that we affectionately referred to him as "one of the girls." We often had down time at work which we filled with conversations about this, that, and the other. Though the job is long gone, and forgotten for the most part, many of the conversations still linger.

We had been talking about Mackinac Island in Michigan, when Kenny chimed in and said that he and his wife had visited there when they were first married. He recalled how beautiful and pristine it was there...no cars allowed..and that we should all go if we ever got the chance. I mentioned that the movie Somewhere in Time was filmed on location there. He remembered seeing the movie when it was released and said he would like to see it again. I loaned him my copy and he kept it for a very, very long time. I never brought it up, but one day he said, "I keep forgetting to return your movie, it's sitting right on my dresser." I told him he could keep it as long as he liked.

Not long after, he suddenly began missing work...days, weeks. Then, the sad news that he had passed away.

In my mind, "Somewhere in Time" is still there on his dresser.

    Just keep it, Kenny.
