    Talking random off-topic

Use it to post any random non-sequitur stuff that you can think up.
i figure it'd be useful to have a 'random' thread for off-topic stuff too, in case ppl don't want to start new threads.

and then the main forum random thread could (in general) stick to game-related random stuff

Good idea, but this is a sub forum so you had better promote it in the main forum or I'm afraid it will get overlooked.

And some off topic rambling in the main random thread is to be expected, but if it starts to go haywire then it has a home here.

Different person and slightly different randomness but I just heard from Villa. She is on her hols in Europe, Spain actually and she passed very close to us on her way south. If you are reading this Villa we expect some marvellous photos adding but if they are of Ronda can we have a health warning first please. One of us who shall be nameless but is Me, is phobic about heights and even feels queezy when looking at up or down photos.

I would be surprised if he even knew he was there and if he did as an avowed atheist he probably didn't give a hoot.

I suppose atheists are watching the news either and are informed about local events. A pope is also a historical figure and watching such a visit can be - let's say - interesting.

Juma, I highly recommend Barcelona, I loved it. The sagrada familia is one of the most amazing buildings I have ever seen and the view over the city from the Olympic site is stunning.

Oh yes, but if you visit Spain, don't forget the other coast. Andalusia is simply amazing - ask SE for insider tips!

I have never been. It is one of those places that is just too far for a day so you never make the effort.

I have just been watching a extremely interesting programme on TV about various things. The one that caught my eye most was the 'Cat Festival in wait for it...... (I think) Minneapolis. This was described as a two day, you tube, cat watching time. Where the people all sit around watching cats, some with faces made up as cat faces, cat Tshirts, everything cat. It is supposed to be relaxing! On screen we saw a field full of people and my first thought was these guys could have been at Woodstock. So can anyone out there confirm that the cat festival started life as Woodstock? Has anyone been?

He can't not have known. Phila news has talked of nothing else for the last two months, and the city is on virtual lockdown. The Eagles even went to New Jersey to practice for today's game. According to friends and neighbors the place is a zoo. People send pictures of the blocks and blocks of portajohns (which somebody dubbed "pope-a-potties") and the high tech medical tents and the blocks of pallets of bottled water. Glad I don't go back for another couple weeks.

As I said, it was covered by the news (TV and print) all around the world and especially if the a president (political leader) and a pope (religious leader) meet, it's even a historical event. Even if it wouldn't have taken place in igottahavit's hometown, it's hard to imagine that someone believes he could have missed it.
