Don't drink too much because I see on my calendar that all you British, Australians, and Canadians have to BOX each other tomorrow. HO! HO! HO!

Merry Christmas to everyone, who is still celebrating.

The city is magically quiet and peaceful since yesterday afternoon when everything closed down until Saturday. And we finally started to catch up with the bubbly from our 'Adventkalender' - the calendar with the countdown from December 1st to the 24th. This year we had a very adult version with little bottles of sparkling wine for each day.

    Cyber,

The only association with boxing that we have here today is watching the Boxing Day test on the idiot box.

It's a tradition. I think watching cricket is like watching paint dry, but every year for longer than I care to admit, I sit in front of the telly, complain about the heat, watch the test, and eat leftover ham.

The word boxing always makes me nostalgic. My nanna always referred to Christmas presents as boxes, and so I think of her whenever anybody refers to the term.

Enjoy the holidays everybody -what's left of them.

Boxing day in the SE household is more eating and drinking with more family members then tomorrow more of the same but at a distance. Our celebrations probably continue longer than most as we fly back to Spain on 3rd and 6th is Three Kings day when Spanish children traditionally receive their presents. Well the presents arrive on the night of the 5th. Each village has a parade with the kings arriving in Bethlehem with their gifts. Christmas Day is gradually taking over now and commercialism as well which is a shame.

My next two days will be spent helping out on Christmas Bird Counts. Always a lot of fun and a potluck at the end of the day!

Hey Debz...maybe Gene Kelly will drop by and you can do a number together.

Speaking of numbers...one of my favorite Holiday tunes is "Little Saint Nick" by the Beach Boys. Coca Cola did a commercial featuring the song with polar bears and penguins a while ago. Did not see it this year though...pulled it up on YouTube and it's still adorable...

You got my curiosity up again, I had to look up what the Penines were. They are sort of like our Rocky Mountains. Except ours are on a much grander scale of course.

CB. Yes your rocky mountains are the real thing. The Pennines are the spine of England or backbone. Though not high they split some of the country east from west. A motorway runs across, the highest in England and is a nightmare journey most of the year.
Someone was talking about the Coke ad that you see in the States with polar bears and pengiuns. Check out this UK one http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=kr7h8crYAYQ
Considered by some the best Xmas ad. and the biggest sign that the holidays are coming, as the ad says.

The view from out my back door...for all of you who wanted to see snow! You are welcome to come here and play in it. Do you want to build a snowman?

The big open expanse is a pond (frozen over now, of course). The deer were frolicking in the backyard earlier this morning. The bonfire is ready to light, and we have marshmallows for roasting and all the ingredients for s'mores. It is currently 24*F (-4*C). Still want to visit?

SE, let me know when to pick you up at the airport. You can do all those things here. We can even have a New Year's party in your honor! I will stock up on wine, in case Vino heads northwest for it!

I'm thinking chocolate mint sweetened with stevia leaves for today. Mmm.

Sal, that pic is what I see out of a wall of windows. Beautiful, but chilly. I prefer to be inside quilting and tapping!
